Spencer and Mike – about the Authors

Spencer Leigh was born in Liverpool in 1945 and has written biographies of Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, the Beatles, and Simon and Garfunkel. He has broadcast over 2,000 shows for BBC Radio Merseyside and has specialised in talking to Merseybeat musicians. The interviews are in the process of being given to Liverpool Central Library and Record Office for public use.

Mike Jones was born in Liverpool in 1994 and is fascinated by Liverpool’s rich musical past. Since graduating from Hope University with a degree in popular music he has provided information and memorabilia for books, exhibitions, CD compilations and documentaries. He has performed all over the UK in various bands, played with original 1960s Merseybeat musicians and aims to document as much of Liverpool’s mid-20th century musical history as possible.
