Das 1994er Buch erscheint 2016 erneut als gebundene Ausgabe und Paperback. Es beinhaltet zweifelsfrei eine der berühmtesten Begegnungen von Musikern, die im 20. Jahrhundert zu den bekanntesten gehörten (und auch heute noch gehören) – deren Musik immer noch zu den wirtschaftlich erfolgreichsten zählt. Das Besondere an der Begegnung zwischen den BEATLES und ELVIS PRESLEY ist, dass sie einerseits alle daran interessiert waren sich einmal persönlich kennen zu lernen und andererseits insbesondere in den USA Konkurrenten waren. Inzwischen ist bekannt, dass ELVIS bereits 1964 nach dem ersten ganz großen Erfolg der BEATLES in den USA die vier Musikern aus England als Konkurrenten ansah. Es gab sogar Versuche seitens ELVIS und seinem Management, die Karriere der BEATLES in den USA zumindest zu behindern.
Aufgrund des Zwiespalts insbesondere bei ELVIS – Interesse und Ablehnung – blieb die dann stattgefundene Begegnung am Freitag, den 27. August 1965, eine einmalige Angelegenheit. Beide Seiten äußerten sich eher selten dazu, meist mit einer inhaltlichen Distanz, die mit höflichen Worten umschrieben wird. So ist es nicht nur interessant, das Treffen schildern zu lassen sondern auch, wie es dazu kam und vor allem auch die Atmosphäre in der es stattfand. Wer könnte das besser als CHRIS HUTCHINS. Es war es, der die Begegnung einfädelte und dabei war. Und er erlebte die BEATLES während ihrer zweiten Tournee durch Nordamerika (Start am Sonntag, den 15. August 1965, im New Yorker Shea Stadium; Abschluss am Dienstag, den 31. August 1965, im Cow Palace in Daly City bei San Francisco). Das Treffen mit PRESLEY fand also während der Konzertreise statt – und war sicherlich oft Thema bei den BEATLES und der Crew, zu der CHRIS HUTCHINS als mitreisender Journalist für die englische Zeitschrift “New Musical Express” gehörte.

Pressetext: No one laughed more loudly than the King himself when the BEATLES’s manager BRIAN EPSTEIN boasted, “My boys are going to be bigger than Elvis Presley.” It was the early 1960s, and PRESLEY, a living legend, appeared unassailable. Yet, in 1964, JOHN, PAUL, GEORGE and RINGO suddenly topped the American charts – and Beatlemania rolled the King in the greatest rock coup of all time. Über den Autor: The writer and broadcaster CHRIS HUCHINS is an established author of highly acclaimed biographies of the rich, the famous and the royals. His first, Fergie Confidential, was an intimate biography of the Duchess of York and chronicled her troubled marriage to the Queen’s favourite son, Prince Andrew. He followed this with a revelatory biography of the late Princess of Wales, “Diana’s Nightmare – The Family”, a book which so established him as an authority on the royals that he was invited to cover Prince Charles’ subsequent marriage for American television. Books that followed include “Athina – The Last Onassis”, which probed deeply into the world of the Onassis dynasty and “Goldsmith – Money, Women and Power”, the biography of the late billionaire entrepreneur, Sir James Goldsmith. More recently Hutchins turned his attention to matters Russian with fearless biographies of the country’s leader, “Putin”, and best-known oligarch, “Abramovich – The billionaire From Nowhere”. The author returned to the royal stage with a revealing book about Diana’s son, “Harry – The People’s Prince”. Then it was back to rock’n roll with THE BEATLES – MESSAGES FROM JOHN, PAUL GEORGE AND RINGO which featured on its cover one of the postcards JOHN LENNON sent to the author during his travels and, more recently “Elvis A Personal Memoir”.
